More of James' photography coming soon...

These photographs were taken during the Great American Eclipse on 21 August 2017, at Fort Yargo State Park in northern Georiga.
Camera: Canon EOS REBEL XSi, with a Tamron AF 300mm telephoto lens, shooting through an Orion Full Aperture solar filter.

These photographs were taken during the North America Total Solar Eclipse on 8 April 2024. Unlike during the 2017 eclipse, this time I planned ahead and took multiple shots, at five minute intervals, so I could catch more of the progression of the eclipse.

Cameras used:

  • Canon EOS REBEL T2i, with a Tamron AF 300mm telephoto lens, shooting through a K&F Concept ND1000000 solar eclipse filter (before/after totality).
  • Canon EOS REBEL XSi, with an Opteka 500mm HD telephoto mirror lens, no filter (during totality).

Using other cameras I also shot photos of my surrounding and fellow eclipse-watchers. In addition, I set up a video camera to film me shooting the eclipse, and an audio recorder to capture the changes in nature sounds before, during and after the eclipse.
